Software and Technology

Again, with the advent of social bookmarking sites such as del.icio.us and Digg, it's a lot less necessary to link to cool stuff. But here you go anyway...

Livejournal - The best blog site out there, in my opinion. And it uses and contributes to open source software. I met my wife on it!

HydrogenAudio.org - The premier online resource for all things consumer digital audio.

Folding@Home - Stanford University's Folding@Home distributed computing. Help solve complex problems needed to cure protein folding diseases.

MIT Open Courseware - Open source MIT classes!

Tor - Secure anonymization software via distributed onion networks!

JAP Anonymizer - Another anonymous encrypted proxy based in Germany.

Exact Audio Copy - By far the best Windows ripper out there for accuracy.

Grip - A bit perfect CD ripper for Linux.

Open Office Open Source GNU office suite. A free alternative to MS Office.

Ubuntu Linux - Linux for Humans. A complete operating system for free.

The Gimp - Free GNU based alternative to Photoshop.

Archive.org - An internet based library with audio, video, and text. Still a little clunky but the content is very neat.
